Democratic Socialist Perspective (DSP) - the largest of the 'Marxist' parties and groups to the left of the ALP. Has gone through many guises, starting out as the Socialist Workers Party - a Trotskyist/Cannonite affair linked to this or that fourth international. Shook off Trotskyism sometime in the '80s after the success of the Nicaraguan Revolution made the cadre question the efficacy of the permanent revolution. But kept (and keep) a strictly Cannonite top-down party regime in place. Have recently 'dissolved' into the Socialist Alliance, hence 'Prespective' as opposed to 'Party', but maintain a distinct youth section - Resistance, and continue to publish a weekly paper - Green Left Weekly. Rumoured to have 250-300 members.
